Drugs You Didn't Know About"
I didn't expect this to be my next blog or even a blog at all but it's been laid upon my heart on multiple occasions. I was just taking a shower and it was a strong thought that kept coming back to me. On a side note, what is it about the shower that makes us enter into "genius think mode: our thoughts to "take over the world" and "change everything we want?" This blog is going to explain some drugs you didn't know existed as well as the dangers, because most of them are legal to buy if your over 18. These are very serious and becoming and are becoming easier and easier to acquire. People are using all kinds of code words now for these in text messaging, so if your suspicious of something weird in your children's texts or spouse's, they are probably talking about drugs.
Duster (Similar to "Whip-It's)
This is the stuff that is easily bought at stores like Wal-Mart and is used to clean out keyboards and tight spaces that contain dust and dirt. It may have some other names for it but it commonly looks like the picture beside. It is easy to access and buy, BEWARE!
What is duster used for?
Duster is an inhalant that people use to get a quick, short, extremely intense high. You hold the can up to your mouth and just inhale while pressing the button. Within seconds you get an intense high that sends you to a different world. It makes your voice sound like "Darth Vader" for a short amount of time.
What are the consequences?
Doing this is simply stupid, first and foremost, if you inhale the can at the wrong angle (which is very possible, and has happened many times) the inhalant freezes and goes straight to your lungs and freezes them, which results in your death. This stuff is not a joke by any means. It also in my own words "is like holding the delete key to your brain cells, deleting millions at a time." I have did this a lot and I can tell that I have clearly lost some of my intellect for the amount of this stuff I have done. You notice that stores like Wal-Mart and stuff NO LONGER keep this stuff in the open and have it behind the counters, it requires an ID of age 18 or older to buy, this is why. I have seen friends pass out from doing it, it takes you to another world where you can't control or function, and death is always a possibility even when you "inhale correctly." I strongly suggest parents to hide this stuff where kids can't access it, all it takes is ONE time, and your child could be on the news dead. It is serious enough a girl was on the A&E hit show Intervention over it (video below).
Synthetically Legal Marijuana(Potpourri or Spice), Cocaine(Bath Salts), and Mushrooms
These are all legal (and no I'm not talking "medically" legal) forms of drugs that can be bought at "head shops" (shops that sell "tobacco pipes and bongs and stuff) as well as some local gas station and convenient stores.
What are they used for?
The people who market these have gotten around the legal issues and marketed them as different things to get past laws and changed ingredients. The only one I actually did, which was frequently, was the synthetic marijuana. It has many different names, comes in many different types of packages. The buzz was a lot more intense than marijuana but would only last 30 minutes to an hour. (I assume but can't say for 100% sure this is how it is for the other drugs.) They all come in different packages and have different names. They all contain very similar effects to the original drug itself in it's illegal form. I've actually heard almost every drug out there now has a "synthetic legal" form including LSD (acid), heroin, etc. All you have to do is type "synthetic name of drug" into google to find out. For you old folks google is a search engine google.com allowing you to search all sorts of things and find information on almost anything!
What are the consequences?
First let's talk about synthetic marijuana. Since I have a good bit of knowledge on it. For whoever read "The Vision" on the testimony part of my page where Jesus actually took some of the drugs to protect me from the effects, these were the times. This stuff is deadly. After a while every time I smoked it I came into a paranoid state, my heart would feel like it was beating fasting than I could imagine, and I would constantly be asking my friends to feel my pulse to see if I even had one. I know for a fact I would have died or had serious unchangeable side effects if Jesus Christ wasn't protecting me during these times. During the later part of my smoking of this, almost every time I would smoke it I would state "I'm never smoking this again" because I almost always felt like I would die. I never kept that word, I always would "come down" from my buzz and smoke it again. This stuff is dangerous and has killed people! Praise God he protected me.
Although I don't know a lot about the other synthetic types I can tell you a TON of people have been dying off them, just do a little research on google, this stuff is very dangerous and is not a joke, you only have to be 18 to buy this type of stuff and it ruins/kills people. BEWARE! Video below about Bath Salts (synthetic cocaine).
Pills (also known as beans)
What some people know and some are completely oblivious to are the drugs they have in their own cupboards. Some of the most common used, abused, and sold are ADHD/ADD medicine (the main kind when I did them were adderall, but there are tons of different kinds), pain killers, "speed" pills and muscle relaxers.
What are they used for?
The main kind which is one of the most popular drugs in college campuses today are the "speed" and ADHD/ADD medicine. People use these to gain focus, get energy, and allow the ability to stay up for periods of time that are hard to imagine (similar to the drug "Meth").
The pain pills which are used for pain relief, but are being abused, snorted, and sold all around in today's youth. (List taken from a google wikianswers site.)
*Vicodin, Lortab, Lorcet, Norco, Polytussin (hydrocodone)
*Percocet, Percodan, Oxycontin, Tylox (oxycodone)
*Dilaudid (hydromorphone)
*MS Contin (morphine)
*Demerol (meperidine)
*Duragesic (patch), Actiq (lozenge) -- (fentanyl-very potent stuff)
*Darvon, Darvocet (prophoxyphene)
*Nubain (nalbuphine, injection only)
*Ultram (tramadol - not a true opioid, but used as a pain pill)
*Methadone (not sure the trade name)
*Stadol (butorphanol)
*Heroin (diacetylmorphine, no medical/therapeutic use in most countries)
The muscle relaxers pills are just that, relaxers. The most common kind abused by the youth today are Xanax and Klonopin.
What are the consequences?
Most people doing this stuff who shouldn't be aren't taking it by the mouth, they are crushing them up and snorting them. This allows the "high" to hit quicker but also makes it easier to overdoes, because you are absorbing more of the pill. Snorting pills can also lead to:
- respiratory problems, such as destruction of the nasal and sinus cavities and lung tissue
- irregular heartbeat (heart arrhythmia)
- problems with circulation
- psychotic episodes
- increased aggression
- toxic shock
- death, in extreme cases
Pain pills are something I never got addicted to but they were always enjoyable. They have become a real issue with our youth today and they get don't even have to go out to buy them, they find them in parents pill cabinets or wherever they keep them. Pain pills when not prescribed can form strong addictions that are near impossible to get off of without going to rehab.
Below is a list of 9 pain pill mistakes people make:
(taken off of http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/chronic-pain-11/9-pain-pill-mistakes)
No.1: If 1 Is Good, 2 Must Be Better
Doctors prescribe pain pills at the doses they believe will offer the greatest benefit at the least risk. Doubling or tripling that dose won't speed relief. But it can easily speed the onset of harmful side effects.
No. 2: Duplication Overdose
People often take over-the-counter pain drugs -- and even prescription pain drugs -- without reading the label. That means they often don't know which drugs they're taking. That's never a good idea. And if they take another over-the-counter drug -- either for extra pain relief or for other reasons -- they may be getting an overdose. That's because many OTC drugs are combination pills that carry a full dose of pain pill ingredients.
No. 3: Drinking While Taking Pain Drugs
Pain medications and alcohol generally enhance each other's effect. That's why many of these prescription medications carry a "no alcohol" sticker. "The patient should heed that alcohol warning, because it can be a major problem if they do not," Haynes says. "Alcohol can make you inebriated, and some pain medications can make you have that feeling as well. You can easily get yourself into trouble."
No. 4: Drug Interactions
Before taking any pain pill, think about what other medicines, herbal remedies, and supplements you are taking. Some of these drugs and supplements may interact with pain medications or increase the risk of side effects.
No. 5: Drugged Driving
Pain medications can make you drowsy. Different people react differently to different drugs. This can lead to deadly results if you fall asleep while driving.
No. 6: Sharing Prescription Medicines
Unfortunately, it's very common for people to share prescription medications with friends, relatives, and co-workers. Not smart, Haynes and Binaso say -- particularly when it comes to pain medications. "If a fairly healthy person is taking a medicine because she is in pain, and wants to give some pills to Uncle Joe because he is hurting -- well, this is a potential problem," Haynes says. "Uncle Joe may have a problem that keeps his body from eliminating the drug, or he may have an allergic reaction, or the drug may interact with a medication he is taking, with life-threatening results."
No. 7: Not Talking to the Pharmacist
It's not easy to read drug labels, even if you can make out the small print. If you have a question about either a prescription or OTC drug, ask the pharmacist.
No. 8: Hoarding Dead Drugs
Joe's wife is actually to blame for one of his mistakes. She should have disposed of those extra pain pills once she was over her dental pain. Why? One reason is that pills stored at home start breaking down soon after their expiration date. That's especially true of drugs kept in the moist environment of the bathroom medicine cabinet.
No. 9: Breaking Unbreakable Pills
Pills are actually little drug-delivery machines. They don't work the way they're supposed to when taken apart the wrong way. Scored pills should be cut only across the line, Binaso says. Those without scoring should not be cut at all, unless you're specifically instructed to do so. "When you start chopping up pills like that, the pill may not work," she says. "We find more and more people are doing this. And then they say, "Oh, that pill had a really bad taste. That is because they cut away the coating."
The muscle relaxers have some of the worst side effects. I never really took them for more than the intended use of just to relax and never took more than 1 or 2. The thing with these pills are they are VERY CHEAP, and on a bad night someone might take a handful of them, this creates extreme delusion in the minds. How do I know? I actually sold my buddy about 20 of these pills and he called me at about 3 in the morning. He apparently had a little to drink with them but the delusion they created brought such a strong since of guilt to the person, they were actually contemplating suicide. That was one of the scariest nights of my life, because it would have been my fault if my friend would have went through with this.
